Restoring an Early (c.1900) Hohner Double side Echo |

As I got it, Tarnished, slightly flattened and rusty inside. Bought in America. |
The finished product, looking good and playing well. This double sided echo harp,
with zinc covers, is quite a scarce beast as harps go. |
The insides of the zinc covers had quite a layer of oxidisation which was removed
and the covers lacquered, to prevent further tarnishing. |
Stripped ready for renovation. Woodwork was cleaned and stained, the outside lacquered.
Plates in not too bad condition |
Lower three photos show 1. Parts cleaned and ready for assembly. 2. Cover before and after restoration. 3. Closeup of cover logos, last award 1881. The harp has 2 x 32 reeds in alternate suck/blow pairs. C & G |
