Hohner 40 reed echo Circa 1920. Brass plates, pinned. Latest award 1881.This one
had been crushed and took a lot
of patient restoration. Now fully functional. Sounds very mellow. In C. |

Hohner "TREMOLO 147" Another of the Marine Band range. Double sided A/D Circa
1930 |

These five photos show the Hohner "ORCHESTER 1" It has Hohners unique metal insert over the prongs of the wooden body. This idea was patented by Matthias Hohner himself in 1911.(Patd. 1009903) The idea was to protect the players lips when the wood expanded on playing, also to strengthen the harp and enhance it. Was still used on this model into the 1960's. (See 1960 model elsewhere on this site). |
This modification must have made manufacture more difficult and costly, so not generally
used. The model shown in these photos, I guess is about 1920-30 |
The last Medal Of Honour on this harp is VILLINGEN 1907, so date could be anywhere
after this. |
After careful restoration, this harp plays as good as new. It is in the key of A |

Nice scarce early Hohner Double side Echo, with Brass plates and zinc covers. A bit flat when I got it, both physically and musically, but careful restoration has now got it looking good and playing well. In C & G. |

"Worlds Fame The Blue Bird" BOHM SYSTEM "A symbol of Happiness" German. Trademark is Steamship. G |
Manufactured by F.A Bohm. Founded 1851 Untersachsensberg, near Klingenthal |

A couple of discrepancies I have noticed on these C.A.S.S. harps is on the 4" harp
"Sohne" is spelt Soehne" with extra E?. It also has a backwards "C" istead of
zero in the D.R.W.Z number. On the 5" model the registered nunber of 3289658 has
the six round the wrong way! |

Photo below shows individual metal inserts on each comb tooth to protect the players
lips, unlike the usual full length metal strip used in others. |
Karl Herm Bohm's "Saxophone Band". Date unknown, guess about 1925? |
Key of G. Is this the same family as F.A.Bohm.? |

Johann Schunk <<"Bajazzo" ARTIST HARP A very nice condition harp for its age, had little use. 2x40 reed. C & G Steel reed plates. Still in tune. Guess about 1920-30 Unless of course you know better! >> |

F. A. BOHM. "Violin King" Double side 2x48 reed Tremolo, steel covers, brass plates. Guess date about 1925. D.R.W.Z No.208409. |
Harp dismantled, ready to be cleaned. Had to replace plate pins with brass ones as
the steel ones had rusted and had enlarged the holes in the wood and lost their
grip.. |

Andreas Koch "Bugle Band" "GRAND CONCERT ORGAN" Dble side 2 x 40 reeds C & G. c.a. 1914. Brass plates Steel covers. (CLICK HERE FOR RESTORATION) |

This is the same model harp as the one on the left, but probably later, as it has
chrome plated steel plates. D.S. 32 holes 64 reeds. Brass plates. Lapped ends. Possibly 1930's |

"Prima Donna" German. Unknown maker. c.a. 1915? 6 1/4" Steel covers and reed plates 32 hole 16 reeds. Reg. 77647. Alternate blow/suck, reed/no reed. Anybody know the maker? |

Hohner "HARMONETTE" 1924-1931 Mod. 3101. 14dh. 28 reeds. |

" THE TROUBADOUR" 16dh 16reeds,steel plates, zinc covers. Very similar in manufacture to the "Prima Donna" (above right). Above can be seen the harp after restoration. The covers were rather badly bent and needed a lot of careful "tapping" to get back in good condition. On the right can be seen the constitueant parts prior to cleaning. It has no other marking but "made in Germany" and "Trade Mark". I guess it to be about 1915-20. If you know better, let me know. |
Above is the harp as it arrived. It looks better than it was!. Right are all its
"bits" after derusting, descaling, and lacquering. It is still in tune and plays well. It is 6" long and 1 1/2" wide. If you have any information on this harp, contact me. |

Hohner "METALLA" Could be the "Full metal Jacket" model.! Notice (Below Left) metal insert covering front and half the slots. 14dh 28r. Brass pinned plates. Only one I have seen from Hohner with "frosting" on covers. 'Sport' T.M. c.a. 1938. Probably for domestic market. |
As it arrived from Germany |
Notice metal sleeves |
After restoration |
As the harp has had almost no use, the top cover must have been a bad impression
during manufacture as it is very low relief, and the "M.Hohner" can hardly be seen. |
